As a trainer and health coach, I am always being asked what I eat. I eat basically the same thing every single day! Boring, I know but it works. It takes the thinking and guesswork out of meal prep and calorie counting. I have many MANY tips but here are a few personal tips I will share with you!
I fast until noon then eat a very light lunch and supper.
I eat most foods on top of spinach, even my egg whites. This is a great way to sneak in our greens.
I make dishes that contain a bit of everything ranging from onion and peppers to spinach and sweet potatoes. My dishes neve have a name, they are merely a concoction.
I add wheat bran to oatmeal, high fiber cereal and most baked goods.
I drink at least half my body weight in water each day. But I DO drink a diet pop each day, even though this is frowned upon.
I drink almond or cashew milk.
I eat sweets on occasion but only after I have chugged a glass of water and had a natural form of sugar.
I stop eating before I am full. If I can’t get up from the table and feel like I can walk/run a mile, I overate.
I eat half of everything. If I want more, I give it 30 minutes and have the rest. This rarely happens.
I chew gum ALL DAY! This keeps my mouth busy and occupied and it good for my teeth.
I stay away from most processed foods.
I don’t eat from a bag.
I don't attach emotion to food. It’s just food and it is necessary for survival.
I love chocolate and eat it almost daily. I eat a small portion of high quality chocolate and that’s it!
I like cheese. No I don’t...I love cheese! I eat it weekly, but...I stick to the high quality cheese and have only a few slices along with half a piece of fruit, skipping the crackers.
Endnote...presentation is key! Eat from a pretty dish. Don’t eat from the container. Treat yourself as you would your guest, use pretty dishes, enjoy your food and slow down. We live in America...food is right around the corner, always a few steps away.
Tips from the trainer:
Look at the serving size on the package/container: eat half. Your waistline will thank you!
Until next time, Take care!
